EITHER I'm getting older or the bands are getting younger.
There was a time when rock 'n' roll rebellion was strictly a teenage habit which middle-aged men found impossible to kick.
But Chesterfield's latest bunch of guitar heroes make teeny-bop rockers Hanson look like a trio of pensioners.

Several members of The Fuse have yet to reach their teens, but it doesn't mean they aren't thoroughly grounded in rock history.

Their three-track CD stormed into the top-ten at Chesterfield music store Hudson's, outselling The Enemy, Calvin Harris and, er Enrique Iglesias.

The quintet have only been together a year, but they've already notched up plenty of miles on the road, playing at pubs, clubs and festivals.

And when you bang their record into the hi-fi, it's hard to believe most of 'em are only just out of primary school.

Title track In The Making is a no-nonsense slice of rawk that shows a maturity of songwriting and technical ability way beyond their years.

Next track Riot Van is a riffed-up mosh-pit filler, while Wild's syncopated opening builds into a well-crafted rocker that Angus Young would be happy to don his school uniform for.

Despite their tender years, it's clear that Freddie Bingham, Keelan Burke, Ryan Stock, Jamie Cockayne and George Millward are steeped in the traditions of hard rockin'.

Their tracks reveal the influence of legends from Led Zep to Metallica.
There is a tendency for the lads to occasionally get carried away and try to out-play each other, but when they hammer the tracks home, there's no doubting their commitment to the cause.

Just imagine what they'll sound like in ten years time - when they've actually reached their twenties...
