Budding bands and musicians can hone their gigging skills at a special school of rock being held in north Derbyshire.
Run at Staveley's Springwell Community School, Bandscene Xtra is an intensive week-long course teaching you 'everything you need to know about being in a band'.

Students will be able to write new songs, play their favourite covers, jam with others and get the chance to play a live show which friends and family will be able to attend.

You don't even have to be in a band to take part, as organisers will help create groups from scatch.

The course runs from Monday, July 28 to Friday, August 1, with a final performance event on the last day.

There are two sessions available, 10am to 1pm or 2pm to 5pm, with the course costing £15 per person.

For more details, and an application form, call Brian Evans on (01246) 280115, email bevans@springwell.derbyshire.sch.uk or visit www.myspace.com/scartcentre
