In full flight, Reuben are a sound to behold.
Their awkward, angular hard rock noise goes through more off-beat changes than a jazz drummer falling downstairs.

But as the kaleidoscope pieces tumble, they suddenly merge into stunning melodies and monster hooks – for three skinny blokes, they make an immense sound.

And at Sheffield's Corporation, they delivered a set for hardcore old-school fans, featuring a clutch of rareities and b-sides.

That, together with an acoustic interlude from a band whose corruscating metal sound can strip paint from 20 paces, produced a gig that caught the crowd off-guard.

But if chunks of the set were unexpected, even unfamiliar, there was no let up in either intensity or quality.

Even in the backwaters of their back catalogue they still rock.
Hard.
