Junkyard Dog: Stoned

Anyone can be a covers band, but it takes talent to be a good covers band – and Junkyard Dog have made sure they don't sound like any kind of scrap heap challenge.
Their Byte EP is a diverse mixture of covers ranging from Tears for Fears to David Bowie, but it ends with an impressive original track which proves that they're not just an amalgamation of other people's talent.
She Sells Sanctuary and Don't Believe a Word are two snappy covers of The Cult and Thin Lizzy, both living up to the original standard with great guitar licks and pounding rock beats.
Life on Mars is a shady cover of the David Bowie classic. There's nothing to touch the essence and pitch of Mr Bowie himself, but at least the Dog boys have a stab at making the song their own.
Rocking up Tears for Fears' Mad World, Junkyard Dog add their own bite to the track, again creating something a little different and not just another cover.
If you read the lyrics to the original track, Stoned, you might get a slightly hazed vision in your head of what this song could sound like.
But the Junkyard Dog lads prove there's more to a song than just the lyrics.
It's a slow number that clearly has potential and shows that Junkyard Dog are not just copy cats churning out cheap reproductions.
