Two young members from Chesterfield Swimming Club made a big impact at Derventio swimming competitions at Ponds Forge.

Laini Cooper and Brandon Hotham, both aged 11, produced fantastic performances at consecutive swimming meets - the first in December and more recently in February.

Both Laini and Brandon won top girl and top boy in the ten years category at the December meet, accumulating the most points in their age group in different events.

And, in February, Laini finished top girl (11 years) and Brandon came a second in the boys’ (11 years) category, with fellow Chesterfield swimmer Tobey Baker coming in third.

Chesterfield head coach Mark Tanner said: ‘These swimmers have delivered exceptional performances at highly competitive meets achieving qualification in some events for the Midlands championships in May. We are really looking forward to seeing the results of all our swimmers’ hard work at the upcoming county championships.

“Chesterfield Swimming Club is North Derbyshire’s largest competitive swimming club with a hundred competitive members.

“In addition to the junior competitive programme the club also delivers a highly successful masters programme to 20 adult swimmers; some of whom are competitive whilst others swim for fitness.

“The club also provides a high quality teaching environment in its school of splash learn to swim programme. If you are interested in joining the club, or hearing about sponsorship opportunities, please call Simon Mounsey 01246 567771.”
