Wagstaff hits 28 in tied clash

There was a rare tied game when Dronfield Woodhouse met Chesterfield Barbarians in Division One of the Inkxtra sponsored Chesterfield and District Midweek League.

Visitors Barbs reached 101-9 with M Wagstaff scoring 28, I Wells 22 and S Lowson 13.

Best bowlers on show for Dronfield Woodhouse were L Braddock 3-10, T Wilson 1-9, M Wayman 1-10 and both C Oldfield and B Lambon 1-22.

In reply Dronfield scored 101-7.

For Dronfield L Braddock scored 21, M Dawson 18, B Lambon 17 and T Baggaley 14,

Wicket takers for Barbarians were S Lowson and R Barfoot 1-7 M Wagstaff 1-15 and D Hopkinson 1-21. Three points for each team.

In Division Two, NFU defeated Tupton Rugby Club CC by 17 runs.

NFU reached a total of 130-7 thanks mainly to A Carpenter 41, D Walker 39 and A Crooks 17.

Best bowling figures for Tupton were S Hardwick 2-22, L Mantle 2-24, S Curry 2-32 and A Jepson 1-19.

Tupton ended on 113-7 with A Jepson 39, S Hardwick 19 and B Clarke 17 being top scorers.

Best bowlers for NFU were M Pearson 3-15, C Shacklock 2-16 and R Gardner 1-14.

All the other games were rained off and the teams receive two points each.
