Teenager Vicky Brown has taken the silver medal in the Women’s World Cycle Speedway Championships which were held America.

The Hathersage speed ace, a member of the Sheffield Stars cycle speedway team, came second at the big event which was held at Edenton in the state of North Carolina.

Vicky, 17, only missed out by two points on the gold medal to team-mate Laura Watson.

Since winning a silver in the States, Vicky, formerly a student at Hope Valley College who is now studying sport at Sheffield College, was placed fifth in the Welsh Open and had gained selection to the Great Britain team.

She is planning to travel to Poland in August with her GB team mates for a test match will be a warm-up for next year’s European championships.

Sheffield Stars, are sponsored by Wosskow Brown Solicitors, which also sponsors the British Youth and Junior League.

Vicky will hoping to be in the hunt for medals again at the next world championships which are to be staged in Australia in 2013.
