A trio of Buxton Cycling Club riders impressed during the Stone Wheelers time trial recently.

The 25-mile trial was held on the J5/8 course between Stoke and Uttoxeter.

Mostyn Bullock (52 minutes 21 seconds), Chris Lea (54.18) and Tom Thornely, who achieved a personal best with a time of 53.52, all crossed the line with respectable times on what is generally regarded as a fast course.

Elsewhere last Sunday the hill-climb season continued with the East Lancashire Road Club event on the J9/11 course.

In challenging conditions, Buxton CC took away most of the prizes with Lee Baldwin continuing his fine form of late, as he claimed victory with a time of 7 minutes, 48.2 seconds.

That was over a minute clear of second placed Chris Dyke (Manchester Wheelers) who finished in 08:57.9.

Fellow Buxton member Stuart Baker wasn’t far behind, taking seventh place with 09:15.7, a few seconds ahead of Sam Mansfield (09:45.2) who took ninth place overall, as well as first junior.
