Treble success for pole vaulters

Chesterfield Athletic Club’s pole-vaulters showed the way again in the first National Junior League fixture at Stoke-on-Trent.

They enjoyed a win treble to help Team CDAV (joint team with Amber Valley & Erewash AC) come third in a closely contested match.

Match result: Derby 476 points, Stoke 475, Team CDAV 450, Central Mercia 448, Team DMACK 148, Team Arrows 120.

Promising young U15 girl javelin thrower, Shannon Ashmore, reaped the benefit of recent advice from top javelin coach, Lee Peters, when she threw 27.79m at the Trafford Open meeting - a new club record and a 5m improvement on her previous best.

Half marathon and off-road results: Sheffield Half Marathon: Lyz Evans 4th FV50, 1,189th overall 1:46:18; Tim Schaaning (U20) 3,671st overall 2:16:15; Maria Evans (U20) 4551st overall 2:59:38.

They ran as Team St. Mary’s.
