Christmas came early for the members of Dronfield RUFC’s U12s.

For they faced Matlock in the final of the Derbyshire Shield at Ilkeston and covered themselves in glory.

It was a hard-fought match but Dronfield retained their composure to win 5-0 in extra time.

Lewis Toseland scored the winning try off a great break by scrum half Jacob Houlden.

Dronfield’s player of the tournament was Harry Lyon.

The U12s now qualify for the Finals Day of the NLD tournament which takes place in March.
