AFC Dronfield U9’s played in the cup away against Ecclesfield Red Rose. After a disappointing first game loss, Rowen Helm’s goal the only consolation, the boys battled to force a draw in the second game with a Will Dyson goal.

Final score: Ecclesall Red Rose 5 – AFC Dronfield 2.

AFC U10s also suffered an early exit in the first round of the cup, away to Anston Rangers. Both matches saw AFC struggle to regain their normal form. Man of the match’s went to Will Firth and Max Beresford-Kay, respectively.

Contrastingly, Dronfield U11s were a runaway success in the first cup round at home to Eckington Boys.

Zac Bell opened the scoring and the goals kept coming, Zac again finding net together with Lewis Copley-Dunn (2), Alex Dunkley and Martin Dunka.

The second half was more of the same; Rowan Spinks firing home two, Lewis completing his hat-trick, Jack Beach and James Sayles adding their own names to the score-card, and an unfortunate own goal from Eckington, completed the tally. Man of the match: Alex Dunkley.

Final score: AFC Dronfield 12 – Eckington Boys 0.

Dronfield U12s took on Eckington Boys next level in the cup, with the same end product! Goals from Bradley Thompson, Lawson Staley and Edward Marsden saw the home side go in 3-0 up at the break, with some fine saves from AFC keeper Jack Wilson.

In the second half Eckington applied the pressure but great goalkeeping kept the visitors out. Jack Roy scored again for AFC, before Eckington finally pulled one back but Devrim Sacmacioglu’s final goal sealed the deal for AFC. Man of the match: Jack Wilson.

Dronfield U13s gave an excellent performance away to Throstles.

AFC dominated the game with a deserved lead through Josh Elphleet, Throstles clawed one back but Elphleet again put them one up before half time.

In the second half Elphleet completed his hat-trick and despite a Throstles fight back, came good with Sam Collis and Charlie Furniss goals capping a great team performance. Man of the match: Josh Elphleet and Michael Hasland.

Final Score: Throstles 2 – AFC Dronfield 5.
