Tasmin is new county champion

Chesterfield Athletic Club’s Tasmin Boam became Derbyshire champion in the County Cross-Country Champs at Derby’s Markeaton Park, writesFrank Gorman.

The club had some excellent performances winning one individual and one team gold medals, four individual and one team silvers.

All athletes in the U13 and above age-groups who finished in the first eight have been selected to represent Derbyshire at the inter-counties competition at Cofton Park, Birmingham, in March.

Individual results - U11G: Lily Barnes 11th, Natasha Hill 14th, 14 ran.

U11B: Alec Ediker 2nd, 10 ran.

U17M: Nathan Staniford 2nd, Ed Bilton 7th, Campbell Menzies 9th, 12 ran.

Team 2nd; SenM: Chris Barnes 19th (Vet40); U13G: Katie Lindley 6th, Lauren Hill 10th, 10 ran; U17W: Lindsey Morgan 2nd, Emily Wass 5th, 6 ran.

U15G: Tasmin Boam 1st, Lauren Davies-Beckett 2nd, Sophie Critchlow 6th, Sophie Critchlow 8th, 10 ran.

Team 1st; U15B: James Yapp 9th, Tom Barnes 12th, 12 ran.

28 club athletes have been selected for the County Sportshall teams to compete in the East Midlands Regional Finals at Grantham.

U11B: Mikey Broomhead. Oliver Dakin, Alex Ediker, Joe Houghton, Brandon Lewis.

U11G: Emma Botham, Lauren Hill, Lauren Kay, Melissa Middleton, Erin Russell, Alyssa Stout, Rebecca Wardle. They compete on Sunday, Jan 22.

U13B: James Brewster, Callum Kay, Brandon Lewis, George Taylor.

U13G: Rebecca Conway, Katy Gigg, Abigail Turner, Jordan White, Corey Wilson.

U15B: Josh Hough, Russell Mackey, Dean Ofield, Jordan Ofield.

U15G: Ella Barrett, Ellie O’Connor, Abbie Queenan, Leanne Smith.

They compete on Sunday, Feb 5.
