Chesterfield and District Table Tennis League is holding a Handicap Ping Pong Tournament on Sunday September 29 for a worthy cause.

The event will take place at Springwell Community College starting at 9.30am. The point of the tournament is to raise funds for The Royal British Legion and at the same time create some fun for the participating players.

Ping Pong will be played with sandpaper bats with players playing for double points during a best of three match.

A club spokesman said: “If anyone likes to play table tennis then give it a go and at the same time support a worthy cause.”

The tournament is open to all players in Derbyshire for a £5 entry fee. If anyone wants to just make a donation, cheques can be made payable to the Chesterfield and District Table Tennis League and sent to Jake Meikle at 4 Inkerman Cottages, Ashgate, Chesterfield, S404BP.

Due to recent conflicts serving and ex-servicemen and women are seeking help from the Royal British Legion including requests to help them adapt homes to make them suitable for disabilities and to help provide a free dedicated handyperson service for those unable to carry out small repairs and minor alterations.
