Late in 2011, Keith Loring indicated his desire to stand down from the day-to-day responsibilities of the Chief Executive’s role at Derbyshire CCC - while wishing to maintain a close involvement with the club.
Having now identified a suitable successor, Derbyshire County Cricket Club is delighted to announce the appointment of Simon Storey from May 1.
Simon, 42, has 20 years commercial leadership experience and a world-class CV as a general manager with an international marketing specialism.
He is currently country canager for Johnson & Johnson based in Zurich, Switzerland.
Simon served 14 years with Johnson & Johnson and during his tenure was responsible for executing J&J’s brand sponsorship of the 2008 Beijing Summer Olympic Games.
He was recently offered the opportunity to manage Johnson & Johnson’s regional involvement as key sponsors of the 2012 FIFA World Cup in Brazil, a role he turned down in favour of relocating with his wife and three children to Derbyshire.
Simon will have access to his predecessor throughout a six month handover period, after which Keith will retain a consultancy role with the club focusing on generating new commercial opportunities and growing advertising and sponsorship revenue.
Commenting on the management changes, Chairman Chris Grant said: “Keith has worked tirelessly to improve the off-field performance at Derbyshire in his three-and-a-half years as Chief Executive. I would like to offer him my sincere thanks for his efforts and the support he has offered during my time as Chairman.
“He has been instrumental in transforming the look of the County Ground and that is his legacy. I’m absolutely delighted that the club will be able to retain access to his commercial skills and I am convinced that Keith will unlock additional revenue streams in his new consultancy role.”
Simon added: “I am delighted and honoured to have been appointed to the role of Chief Executive at Derbyshire County Cricket Club. It is an exciting time to join the club and I am relishing the opportunity to help lead Derbyshire towards future success.
“I do not under-estimate the challenge ahead but I have confidence in the long-term direction of the club and I am committed to bringing all my leadership abilities, commercial experience and sporting passion to help the club achieve our goals on and off the field in the coming years.”
