Steve Judge has retained his para triathlete world title.

Steve, from Eckington, claimed the laurels at Hyde Park in London last year and retained the crown in Beijing.

Competing in Class Tri 3, Steve said: “Retaining my world championship crown is a great feeling. It makes the daily training regime I have followed for the year all worthwhile.’’

In 2002 Steve’s life was turned upside down when he was involved in a near fatal car accident in Sheffield.

While he pulled through, one knee was shattered and the other leg remained in traction for over a year. Fighting back from his accident Steve set a number of goals all designed to get physically stronger and compete as a paratriathlete.

While Judge – pictured above with two of his medals – had always been a keen runner and sports man it took his accident to catapult him onto the world stage.

He has retained the UKand European having competed in Spain and Hyde Park, London.

Steve who is a great supporter of other parathletes said: “If you have dream, that is your goal. Work towards your goal.’’
