Chesterfield Panthers are eyeing a league and cup double after they booked their place in the final of the Derbyshire 1sts XV Shield.
Panthers brushed higher league opposition Buxton to one side in a scrappy 39-8 semi-final success at Dunston Road on Wednesday night.
It was a good test for the Midlands Division Four East (North) champions who will ply their trade in the third tier next season.
Tries from Glenn Grayson, Rob Davison, Luke Holt and a brace from Chris Windle set Panthers on their way on a memorable occasion.
Proud club captain Steve Avenier praised man of the match Windle, who converted four and added two penalties, under the floodlights.
“We turned it on at home under the floodlights with a very impressive performance to show our supporters what we are capable of,” said Avenier.
“We now look to the final and completing the double.”
Chesterfield Panthers face rivals Amber Valley in the final of the competition on Easter Monday at Dunston Road (1pm kick off).
