Pinnock’s class KO display

Congratulations to Division Four New Whittington ‘C’ for winning the Group 2 Team Knockout against this season’s runners up in Division 4 Pot Black ‘A’ in front of a packed house at Grassmoor WMC.

New Whittington received just 35 points start which would be added at the end of the fourth frame.

The first frame was between Pot Black’s Jason Wilkes and Colin Carter and it was the young Jason who forged ahead and took the frame 51-22.

The second frame between Ashley Annesley and New Whittington’s captain Dave Pearson was excellent with both players producing some excellent potting and safety play and it was Ashley who took the colours to win the frame 83-58.

Pot Black’s captain was on next against Ian Cardall and both players were very tentative throughout their game and it was Ian who just edged the frame on the black winning 44-47.

The fourth frame between Martin Wilkes and Ian Fairhurst was a very close game with both players countering each other and once again ended in a black ball finish with Martin potting the black to win 42-40.

In the last frame between Mark Walker and Derek Pinnock and with the 35-point handicap added to New Whittington’s score they went in to the last frame 18 points behind and both players played very well but it was the more experienced playing of Derek who showed his class and took the colours to win the frame 50-77 and the match 270-279 to give New Whittington ‘C’ the title of Group 2 Team Knockout champions for 2010/2011.
