Centralians posted an eight-wicket win at newly-promoted Hundall in Division One of the Sheaf Sports Yorks and Derbys Cricket League.

They restricted the home side to 138-8 (Alan Hampshire 43, John Schofield 4-31), reaching their target for the loss of two wickets (R.Wainwright 48 no, M Scholey 42).

There was a close game at the Apperknowle ground where the hosts fell to a 12-run defeat to University Staff.

The visitors, batting first, were all out for 124, with Loughlin again among the wickets 5-47.

Apperknowle were then dismissed for 112 (D.Needham 5-38).

Hathersage claimed their first win with an excellent performance at Parkhead.

They bowled out the home side for 126 and in reply posted a six-wicket win, with a score of 130-4.

Holmesfield continued their unbeaten start with a seven-wicket win at home to De La Salle.

The visitors totalled 170-7 from their 46 overs (D. Rosling 4-49). The home side replied with 172-3, best batting from N. Pearson 70 no and David Ward 40.

In Division Two, Dronfield Woodhouse continued their good start to the season with a fine win at Hallam.

Batting first Woodhouse posted 162-8. Braddock top scoring with a useful 75. They then dismissed the home side for 105.

There was a 35-run victory, their first of the season, for Transport at Grindleford.

Scores were Transport 151 all out, Grindleford 116 all out.

Runs were difficult to come by at Stocksbridge. Visitors Calver were rushed out for 48 (C.Vickers 5-12, L.Harris 4-9).

The home side lost six wickets in achieving their target with Coxhead taking 4-15 for the visitors.

In Division Three, Baslow after last year’s relegation, have made an excellent start to the season.

They recorded an easy victory over Stocksbridge Seconds dismissing them for 59 (M. Kirk 4-23) and easing to a nine-wicket win with 62-1 in reply.

In Division Four, an exciting game took place at Hathersage Seconds where the first tie of the season was recorded.

The home side and the visitors Youlgreave Lodge were both dismissed for 153.

De La Salle 2nds 205-6 (Dixon 59), Apperknowle 2nds 40 (P.Lally 4-6).

Sheffield Centralians 2nd 169-7 were beaten at home by Coal Aston 3rd 170-5 (Woolley 64 no, R. Johnson 50 no).

Hollinsend Meths 2nds were all out for 85 while Chesterfield Barbarians 2nds in reply made 90-7.

Sheffield Centralians 2nds 148-2 had an eight-wicket victory at home over Hundall 2nds 147-8.

Coal Aston 3rds posted a useful total of 221-8 and then restricted home side Sheffield Zingari to 208-4.

In Division Five, Chesterfield Barbarians 3rds reached 163-7 (T.Fowkes 59, A.Winter 5-42) before being beaten in a close game by Hallam 4ths who recorded a one-wicket win making 164-9 (4-18).

Sheffield Collegiate 5ths hit an impressive 255-8 (R.Wright 69, C.Shelley 53, G. Woodhead 4-45) then dismissed the home side Ridgeway 2nds for 80.

Civil Service 2nds 111-3 (J.Jewitt 41) recorded a seven-wicket victory over Ashford 2nds 110 ( McGrath 49).

Woodhouse 156-7 had a three-wicket win in their home match over Baslow 2nds 152-7.
