Steffan Jones will retire from professional cricket at the end of the current season to begin a career in teaching.
The 37-year-old fast bowler has been offered a three year player/coaching contract by Derbyshire but has opted to return to his family home in Somerset.
Jones is currently enjoying his second spell at the County Ground after rejoining Derbyshire on loan from Somerset midway through the 2009 season, a move he made permanent during the following close season.
Jones has played 40 first-class matches for Derbyshire to date and a further 50 appearances in the limited overs forms of the game.
His 123 first-class wickets for the club have come at an average of 32.09.
