The 2012/13 NAPIT Chesterfield and District Sunday League gets underway on Sunday and the eight divisional titles plus the three ‘Domestic Cups’ will be competed for by eighty plus clubs. Once again our clubs will also compete in the Derbyshire Senior and Junior Cup competitions.
Hasland (Hasland Devonshire) will be looking to clinch their third First Division title in as many seasons as they begin their new campaign by entertaining Bolsover Town Social Club. Last season’s runners up Doe Lea Villa get underway by hosting promoted Hollingwood, whilst newcomers FC Britannia (Highfield) take on Brampton Rovers in a local derby.
Inky Athletic narrowly missed out on promotion last season and they will be looking to mount another promotion challenge this time around. The newly promoted sides will also be looking to impress in this division. Division Three Champions Charlies Bar Clay Cross and Runners Up Killamarsh Juniors Ath Reserves will both pose threats along with Blacksmiths Arms who were also promoted. Renishaw Miners Welfare jump up two divisions and will no doubt be a threat after winning Division 4 last season and Division 8 the season before.
In the third division there is one new club, Silver Birches whilst Creswell Rose and Crown have become Creswell Black Diamond.
A number of teams withdrew from Division Four after last season got underway and this time around ten teams will contest the title, these include new boys Double Top and Woodside along with promoted Dronfield Miners and Dronfield Woodhouse. Ark Tavern were relegated last term and will hope a change of name to Lowgates Sports Club will be followed by a change of fortune.
There are four clubs in five who gained promotion at the end of last season, Gate Inn, North Wingfield, Railway Club Athletic, Butchers Arms Spartans and Palterton Sporting Club along with new club Goldminers.
Boythorpe, AFC Bolsover and Dunston Rovers (formerly AFC Angel) were all promoted from Division Seven at the end of last season and as well as the teams who remain from last season’s campaign two new club’s begin their Sunday League careers in this division Birdholme 1st and New Whitt B.
Three new clubs take their bow in Division Seven, Old Whittington MW, Duckmanton Community and VR Royal Oak 1st. Amongst others they are joined by newly promoted North Wingfield MW and Chesterfield Phoenix
Two clubs in Division Eight start the new season having been re-named. VR Royal Oak 2nd who last season played as Newbold Wheatsheaf and Markham Arms (Corner House). There are also nine other clubs contesting Division Eight this time around.
