Buxton Hitmen achieved their first win of the speedway season - at the tenth time attempt - in emphatic style on Sunday.
Skipper Liam Carr led by example with a faultless 15 points, aided by Tony Atkin and Adam Extance sewed up a comfortable 52-41 victory over Devon Demons.
The National League Speedway points weren’t secured, however, until Tom Woolley’s heat 14 success.
A happy team boss, Jayne Moss, said: “It kept it exciting until the end but the result, I don’t think, was ever in doubt. A good victory and a great performance from Adam (Extance).”
It was another impressive performance form the likable ex-road racer, who had three wins in his 13 point tally.
“I’ve had such a good meeting everything came together and I’d like to thank everyone who has helped me get here,” said Extance.
Devon’s cause wasn’t helped by the non-arrival of number one rider Tim Webster and absence through injury of James Shanes.
Their guest, Brendan Johnson, top scored for the visitors including a heat 10 victory on a tactical ride that kept it close until the later heats.
Take nothing away from Buxton though, this was a solid team performance that has been promised for a few matches now and no less than four maximum heat victories was an indication of how much they dominated the match.
Next up for the Hitmen it’s the National League 4s at Coventry next Sunday and they can look forward to the meeting with renewed optimism following this result.
