The Bolsover family are gearing up for a busy Easter weekend of motorcycling.

While dad, John, looks to continue his fine start at Cadwell Park, sons Matthew and Connor will also be in action in the British Mini-bike NMRAC series.

“We’re a motorcycling family,” said Bolsover senior, who got off to a winning start in the Hottrax Motorsport Modern Classic Supersport series at Brands Hatch.

John has always had an interest in the sport while sons Matthew, 26, and Connor, 20, have been racing from a young age, eight and six respectively.

“They wanted to have a go at it. We’re a motorcycling family. We don’t go away on holidays and we don’t go out drinking the whole weekend.

“My daughter enjoys it too. I’ve loved motorcycling since I was 11-years-old and on my 41st birthday my wife got me a track day.

“I always wanted to give it a go and wondered if I would be any good. So at the age of 42 I started racing and went from novice to get my national licence.”

The 49-year-old won all four of his races over the opening weekend of a ten rounds series - in his third appearance at Brands Hatch on a different bike. He said: “It was my third time at Brands Hatch, I’ve finished second on both previous occasions but it was nice to win this one.

“I started racing in the 2013 championship and managed second on the bike class in that year. I changed my bike three months in of the 2014 season and got to second again.

“This year I’m starting on the same bike and not 200 point behind all the others. You get 25 points for a race and I’ve made a good start, I want to continue that.”

John, from Stanfree, leads the way on his Suzuki GSXR600 2001 in his series for bikes more than ten years old and will also be racing a friend’s bike - Yamaha R1000 - at Cadwell Park.
