Father Steve is a four time British National Rally Champion and 2014 BTRDA Gold Star Rally Champion is chairman of a Chesterfield drinks brand development business.

He will race in the Protyre Motorsport Ginetta GT5 Challenge, a total change to his pit and paddock duties supporting son Seb.

Rally driver Perez Senior is more used to thrashing around in the mud and dust of the Forests of Wales in his VK Kick Energy sponsored Ford Focus WRC rally car.

He said: “It’s a very different discipline driving a race car on a circuit, but the Ginetta GT5 is a very easy car to drive, I just have to remember I am not in a group 4 Escort rally car on some deep forest track and cut out the Scandinavian Flicks.”

But rallying is no stranger to Perez Jnr, he has competed in the Kick Energy Junior 1000 Rally Championship at the wheel of a Nissan Micra rally car and both

Seb and Steve have competed together in rallying in the past.

Seb will in high spirits this weekend after his latest race weekend at Oulton Park just over a week ago when he was in impressive form.
