DRONFIELD schoolboy and golf enthusiast Michael Oliver has achieved his first hole in one…at one of the world’s most famous golf courses.
The 11-year-old, who is a student at Dronfield Henry Fanshawe School, stunned the experts at The Belfry, the UK headquarters of the PGA Tour and host to the Ryder Cup, with his achievement.
Michael said: “I was so excited about playing the Belfry but to get a hole in one on the seventh hole was amazing.
“I now have an engraved Belfry Bell stating my achievement and in big letters it says ACE!”
Michael plays for Derbyshire U12s and came third overall in the recent county finals.
Michael’s mum Louise, of financial planners The Taylor Oliver Partnership, said: “He is so passionate about golf and to achieve this at The Belfry, where people like Seve Ballsteros have played, is a thing he’ll never forget – this is something he can tell his children and grandchildren.
“He also won the round against three adults so it was all in all a day to remember!”
