York College 52,
Arrows U18s 74
The Killamarsh-based Arrows basketball team wound up their regular season with another victory over York College.
The Arrows were ahead throughout despite finishing with just four players to finish with a regular season record of 15-3 and unbeaten in 2011.
Matt Oakey and Atif Khan were particularly effective.
The Arrows will now face a trip to Stockport.
Teesside Mohawks 86
The Arrows produced an excellent performance with Semi Eboigbe 24 and Svetoslav Aleksandrov 22 leading the scorers but Ralph Bucci’s 19 rebounds and 37 points the league’s best player by a mile saw the Arrows slip to a 78-86 defeat.
There was much to be pleased about the performances of the young Arrows with James Kelly and George Mullins combining for 17 points they competed with the division’s number two ranked team in every area of the game.
Sam Spare and Andrew Purnell refused to give in at any stage.
Anton Smith also played well for six points off the bench and is clearly one for the future with Matt Oakey.
