Cyclists competing in the Notts and Derby Cyclo Cross League have had their final positions in this year’s final standings confirmed, with rider Sam Gould taking the U9s title.

The final round of the series had to be cancelled due to the snow, yet many local riders have excelled in their respective categories.

Matlock Cycling Club was the number one club in terms of member participation by some distance, having amassed 190 rides across all categories throughout the season.

In addition to the participation numbers, Matlock CC also had many successes with first place league positions for Sam Gould (Boys U9s), Harriet Limb (Girls U9s), Marianne Heffron (Veteran Female) and Terry Taylor (V65 Male).

There were second placed positions for Will Gascoyne (Boys U16s), Cameron Orr (Boys U14s), Ellie Smith (Girls U12s), Tim Elsmore-Martin (Boys U12s) and Chris Green (V45 Male).

Third placed positions were also secured by Louis Swindell (Boys U9s), Martin Stocks (V50 Male), Chris Watts (V55 Male), Sarah Kennedy (Senior Womens), and Christine Howard (Veteran Female).

Other riders also performed very strongly, with Zepnat RT’s Diane Lee comfortably winning the women’s senior league, while Mule Bar Girls’ Phoebe Sneddon came fourth overall in the same category.

In the men’s senior category, Fossa Racing’s Lee Shunburne came fourth, while last year’s league winner Chris Metcalfe of Charge Bikes came fifth overall.
