Team spirit key to Clay Cross success

Clay Cross Cricket Club's U15 team is enjoying a great season.

The lads are placed second in the league and have reached the semi-final of the cup where they will face Apperknowle.

The team's success has been fostered by a team spirit developed over the last three years by manager John Taylor and coach Dave Clarke with many of the lads having played in the same team during that time.

Some of them have played senior cricket already while Brad Clarke has been playing for Derbyshire U 14s this season.

Coach Clarke said: "This is a great bunch of players who are playing for a club that they know will give them a chance in adult cricket at an early stage and not just as a fill-in fielder.

''They are a pleasure to coach and watch develop."
