Talented trio set for national showdown

Three students from the Meadows School with be flying the flag for Derbyshire on Wednesday.

Robbie Hardie, Remy Davies Beckett and Lydia Ingman will represent the county in the English Schools' Team Championships at Thetford.

Remy Davies Beckett plays off a handicap of six and after claiming the Derbyshire Schools' crown for the last two years is hoping to complete the hat-trick in September.

Robbie plays off 17 while Lydia has a handicap of 19.

The trio qualified for the Thetford showdown after doing well in the Annual Derbyshire Schools' event at Chevin in May.

The tournament attracted more than 100 young golfers from schools throughout the county and all three competitors from the Meadows finished in the top 16 to gain places in September's knock out final.

The Meadows trio won the team event, with the best two scores out of three to count, and they are hopeful of more success on Wednesday.
