Staff see off Holmesfield

Games were few and far between in the Sheaf Sports Yorkshire & Derbyshire League after the region was hit by heavy rain.

Champions Holmesfield struggled to 88 at Warminster Road.

But is was nowhere near enough as home team University Staff won by a six-wicket margin.

The result leaves Staff in the top three, less than ten points shy of leaders Parkhead.

Just one game made it to a conclusion in Division Four.

Home side Youlgrave Lodge posted 80 all out. Given the saturated nature of the pitches, this may be considered a ‘par’ score but Sheffield Medics found their way past it with five wickets to spare.

De La Salle II continue unabated at the top of the standings and at the weekend, they take on relegation-threatened Chesterfield Barbarians II at Beauchief Hall.

Mid-table Coal Aston III hope to consolidate with a win over struggling Richmond with current wooden spoonists Youlgrave Lodge staging yet another game at Alport Lane, this time against fifth-placed Shardlows.
