Lowry treble boosts Villa

Six of the final eight teams competing in the quarter finals of the Derbyshire Senior Sunday Cup were from the NAPIT League and three progressed to the penultimate round of the competition.

First division Doe Lea Villa met second division Bolsover Old Boys and after 90 minutes it was 3-3.

Villa upped the ante in the additional 30 minutes to score three more goals.

Scorers for Villa were Philip Lowry 3, Craig King 2 and John Parsons.

Old Boys marksmen were Michael Blakeley 2 and Mathew Gough.

Clowne Wanderers recorded an excellent extra-time win over first division Hepthorne Lane, the tie being 0-0 after 90 minutes.

J Hedridge and M Ablett secured the victory for Wanderers.

In the third tie featuring NAPIT sides Inky Athletic of division two also beat first division opposition in the form of Tibshelf Town. The game was deadlocked at 1-1 and after extra time it went to a shoot-out which Athletic won 5-3. The regulation goal scorers for Athletic were Shane Burton and Craig Longmore with Sam Harris netting twice for Town.

In the Junior Section Renishaw MW were drawn away to Great Rocks and lost 2-0.

Hasland Devonshire’s title charge in NAPIT One remained firmly on course as a Lee Clay inspired performance saw them ease past Creswell Seniors 6-0. Goals came from Clay 3, Danny Kirkland 2 and Mark Needham.

Killamarsh Juniors Athletic defeated Bolsover Town Social Club 2-0, James Edge and Adie Parsons the scorers.

In Division two strugglers Hady Bridge upset title-chasers Highfield with a 2-2 draw.

S McMahon and H Henson scored for Hady, Highfield’s goals coming from J Foster.

In the division’s other game Grassmoor Sports beat Brickmakers 2-0, D Spencer and I Moss the match winners.

Just one of the top four clubs in three, leaders Charlies Bar won with the other three, West Killamarsh, Wingerworth Barley Mow and Blacksmiths Arms all losing.

Charlies extended their lead at the top to six points after their 3-1 victory over Creswell Rose and Crown.

West’s 2-0 defeat came against Killamarsh Juniors Athletic Reserves A Edge scoring twice.

WBM lost 3-2 against Staveley All Inn who moved above them in the table.

Ark Tavern’s White and Smedley’s goals eclipsed Blacksmiths Bailey’s effort.

Laburnum travelled to CCS Industry and beat them 4-0.

Division four leaders Black Swan entertained New Inn Newton and lost to them 2-0, S Webster and A Wilson the scorers.

Crown Killamarsh Utd also won in four, beating Pilsley MW 4-2, Richard Dye, John Senior and Lewis Cherrell 2 the scorers.

AFC Walton still top division five after Jez Mitchell hit two goals in a 6-3 victory over Chesterfield Arms.

Second placed Barrow Hill MC also hit six this time against Harleys/Scarlets, Chris Cave and Ryan Whittaker both scoring doubles in the win.

Brampton Rovers went third following a 5-1 victory over Brimington Utd, J Fardon, M Tighe, A Hone, A Hall and S Stockley scoring.

North Wingfield recorded a 2-0 win over Midland Hotel Killamarsh in the final division five game thanks to goals from M Tandraw and J Whetton.

In division six the top two, Hopflower Utd and Railway Club Athletic both drew but the headliner in this division was Brimington Club’s Paul Buxton who hit all five in a 5-3 win over Hasland Community.

Hopflower came up against a determined Clowne Wanderers Reserves who held them L Jackson scored Hopflower’s goal, R Hardy scoring for Wanderers.

Railway Club’s draw was with New Nags Head in which C Smith and A Moseley scored for Railway, J Marchant scoring both Nags goals.

Gate Inn and Holmebrook Tavern drew 3-3, D Kirk scored two for Gate Inn as did D Parsons for Tavern.

Dronfield Miners were the division’s biggest winners beating Bull and Badger 6-0, Oliver Wood hitting three of the Miners goals.

Woodthorpe also won, Old Whitt 2011 losing by the odd goal in three, M Walsh scoring twice for Woodthorpe.

Palterton Sporting Club still hold a one point advantage over Butchers Arms Spartans in seven as both sides won.

Palterton’s home advantage paid off as Corner House were dispatched 3-1, J Smith scoring a treble.

Spartans win came against Masons Arms whom they beat 3-0, C Tromans, K Miles and C Wallage scoring.

Third placed Ace of Clubs Skips went down to a 3-0 reverse at AFC Angel, R Barley, C Chapman and B Rutherford scoring.
