Charity shoot raises much needed funds for African primary school

Derwent Bowmen Archery Club

Derwent Bowmen Archery Club

Members of Derwent Bowmen Archery Club held a charity meet to raise funds for a primary school in Africa.

David Randall from the club said: “The club has given financial support to Hurungwe Primary School in Zimbabwe for some years now.

“A club member has a friend who comes from the region in which the school is situated.

“This person passes on any funds that we collect and we understand that even a small amount of Sterling can buy very useful and practical items for the school and its pupils.”

“The Boxing Day Shoot, called St Nicholas, involved a good number of archers who each gave a donation to the fund in order to shoot the arrows on the day.

“We are delighted to have made another cash collection for the school and intend to organise further shoots that will do the same.

“We are also keen to encourage others to try archery and offer training and instruction for adults and children.

“If anyone would like to give the sport a try then please contact our club coaching officer Mr G Hurt on 07884 182365.
