Abdul and Rob's ton partnership

Pilsley 209-6, Butterley 152-7 Pilsley got their promotion push back on track with a winning draw at Butterley.

After the loss of opener Andy Burke (9), Abdul Suleman (58) and Rob Townsend (53) put on a century parternship as they made the home side suffer in the heat at the Loscoe Ground.

Rob Townsend was caught behind off the bowling of A.West trying an audatious switch hit.

This brought skipper Worthy to the crease who pushed the run rate on making 41 and he was well supporting by debutant Tom Hewitt who made 32. The pick of Butterley's bowlers was A.Parker (3-37)

Butterley got off to the worst possible start as Sam Bown (2-10) took a wicket with his first ball.

Butterley never got any momentum in their run chase as Pilsley bowled well on a good batting track.

Ben Hawley, Chris Worthy and Ian Worthy were the other wicket takers.

Butterley captain D.James held the innings together for Butterley making a watchful 64 not out.

Pilsley play host to Cutthorpe Sunday XI next week at Barlow Hill.

Cutthorpe 194-8, Pilsley 113 all out

Pilsley remain bottom of Division Two of the County League as an all too familiar batting collapse led to their demise at the hands of Cutthorpe.

Pilsley bowled well, especially early on as the wicket was offering some assistance to the bowlers.

Chris Cowley came in and stablised the innings before playing some aggressive shots at the end of the innings to make 64.

Ian Worthy (3-48), Tahir Nawaz (2-41) and Michael Thompson (2-30) were the pick of the Pilsley bowlers.

Pilsley got off to an excellent start as Saeed Bin Nasir (36) looked to be regaining his form as he attacked the Cutthorpe openers.

He was looking set for a big score until he was trapped LBW by the excellent Chapman (5-35).

Wickets then fell at regular intervals and Pilsley collapsed to 113 all out despite Ian Worthy's (10 no) rearguard action. Pilsley visit high flying Belper Meadows next week and will be hoping for a change of fortune.

Pilsley 2nd XI got a losing draw at Swanick thanks to Dave Barge (80 no) and a career-best for young Jack Warsop who made 31.

Calow Sunday XI 158, Shireoaks 2nds 162-4

The Cavaliers were away against their bogey side Shireoaks.

Shireoaks won the toss and put Calow in to bat. Batting at num

ber three Barrie Henson (41) looked to be carrying on his good form from last week, hitting some crisp fours through the off side.

Tarun Narula chipped in with 18 on his Cavaliers dbut before trying to fetch on from too far outside the off stump and skying a catch.

Wicket keeper Mark Devine found some form in an uncharacteristically restrained innings of 37, and was last man out as the Cavaliers totalled 158.

The Shireoaks reply got off to a good start with a 57 partnership from Brealey and Glenn Allen (25) before Allen was caught behind off the bowling of Henson (2-35).

A second quick wicket from Henson brought the experienced Sturgeon to the crease.

He and Brealey put on 77 to get Shireoaks within touching distance of the Calow total.

Brealey fell late on for 72 and Sturgeon in the next over, but by that stage the scores were tied and the winning run was hit off the very next ball to secure a six-wicket win.

The Cavaliers were again left ruing dropped catches as Shireoaks continued their good record against Calow.
