Former North Derbyshire Chargers Rugby League player Lee Sanders has become the club’s first to join the professional ranks.

Sanders joined the Chargers in 2008 and made a try scoring debut for Sheffield Eagles in their recent pre-season Autism Plus Cup victory over South Yorkshire rivals Doncaster.

Sanders, a sport science student and first team captain at Sheffield Hallam University, also represented the Midlands students in 2011.

He has progressed through the Eagles ranks and is now looking to stake a claim for a place in the team on a regular basis alongside experienced international players from all over the world.

North Derbyshire Chargers will run teams this summer at Under 11s, U13s, 15s and open age.
