Rugby League coach Lee Walters collected the coveted Coach of the Year honour at the Bolsover District Sports Awards ceremony.

Lee, who has taken the North Derbyshire Chargers U15 team to the top of their division in the Yorkshire League and has been instrumental in helping to set the club up in its new base in Barlborough.

Chargers’ co-founder Tim Fellows said, “Lee has done a fantastic job in recruiting and developing players for the club.

“He has worked really hard to develop his technical coaching but as a club coach it is his philosophy to coaching that we appreciate at the club.

“He always makes sure that every player feels part of the team, whether they are experienced or new players. We are delighted that he has been recognised.”

The Barlborough-based club also picked up Schools Link and Stepping Stones awards.
