Chesterfield’s ‘Boxing Butcher’ wants to give fight fans more memories on the town’s next big fight night.

Mark Krence will box on the Raging Bull Promotions show at Escapade Nightclub on Saturday, June 11, on a European Boxing Federation-sanctioned show that also features the oldest puncher on the planet, 54-year-old Steve Ward, defending his EBF Midlands Area cruiserweight belt.

Krence (34) is the town’s most successful boxer of recent years.

As an amateur with St Michaels ABC, he won the ABA championship and in his professional career he won Midlands Area and English honours and twice challenged for the British belt.

He is perhaps best remembered for wobbling Olympic gold medallist Audley Harrison when they battled live on BBC television in May, 2002.

Krence has been out of the ring since he was beaten in the semi-finals of ‘Prizefighter’ in April, 2010.

Krence is training for seven weeks in preparation for his comeback fight at a gym in his home town and back at the Sheffield gym where he was previously based.

Tickets for the show are available from 078733 26671.
