Three kickboxers from East Midlands Freestyle returned from the WFMC World Championships with honours.

Representing Team GB the successful trio won five medals in total.

Eight-year-old Ryan Starbuck won gold in Light Contact, then followed that with gold in the Low Kick category.

Bradley Newbold, 15, won silver in Full Contact and silver in Light Contact.

Millie Yates, 12, won bronze in the Semi Contact category.

Coach Brian Slaney was proud of each individual’s performance at the championships.

He said “All three fighters performed brilliant against strong experienced fighters and thoroughly deserved their medals.”

The trio qualified for the World Championships after winning at the British Championships earlier this year.
