It was Matlock Cup semi-final time for Hurst Farm Utd and Codnor Miners at the weekend.

Within 30 second Toby Mcleans’s quick feet found the ball from a wide angle, he turned twisted then fired a low cross into the box but a mix up between Codnor’s keeper and the centre back saw the ball pass between both players and into the back of the net.

Hurst Farm’s lead was doubled after eight minutes when Adam Flint raced down left wing working nicely with Jonathan Roose and after some good two touch football a fine pass found the feet of Chris Haywood who found himself in acres of space to fire a low shot unchallenged past Codnor’s keeper.

The last 15 minutes of the first half saw Codnor’s fight back and they scored two minutes before the break with a fantastic super strike.

But there were no more goals in the second half as Hurst Farm booked their ticket to the Matlock Cup final.

Solar Press Division Two action saw two in-form teams Riddings Rovers and Matlock Sports do battle.

Steve Pardey put the visitors one in front on 30 minutes with a spectacular goal.

Pardey made it two from inside the penalty area on 60 minutes.

Ten minutes later a corner found the head of Ben Harrison who put the ball into the back of the net giving Matlock a three-goal cushion.

Riddings made the scoresheet via Chris Turner before Matlock responded with two quick goals from super sub Aaron Griffiths and Matt Williamson.
