Buxton Hockey Club veteran Peter Danson achieved another gold medal with the England over-70s’ team out in Holland at the recent Grand Masters World Cup.
Peter and his England teammates came top of the pile during the 10-day tournament, held at top club Klein Swiztserland HC.
The England over-70s breezed through the group stage with wins against Germany (3-0), South Africa (5-0), Japan (14-0) and Netherlands (2-0) while they also held the pre-tournament favourites Australia 0-0.
Then the top two teams entered a play-off for the final positions, and England managed to beat the Netherlands for a second time thanks to a narrow 2-1 victory to win the event.
Peter, who has won two World Cups and three European Cups, now hopes to play in the European Cup in London as well as the next World Cup in Australia in 2016.
