Chesterfield Hockey Club begin their pre-season preparations on Saturday, September 6 against Sheffield-based Chapeltown.

Chesterfield were promoted to Midlands Division One after 13 consecutive wins last season saw them to the East Midlands Premier title.

They begin the 2014/15 season with a trip to Old Silihillians on October 4 and finish with a trip to South Nottingham on March 28, 2015.

But their attentions will first be on a week on Saturday when the club host a fun-filled day as part of the National Hockey Weekend.

The day involves all the fun of the fair with face painting, prize competitions and hockey at St. Marys RC High School, on Newbold Road.

It begins at 10am and the first matches start at 12noon, with a mixed junior/adult side taking on fellow Derbyshire outfit Derwent Badgers.

The first team take on Chapeltown at 1.30pm before players from the past take on the current crop at 3pm. There are further mini hockey taster sessions on Sunday at 10.30am.

The club is keen to emphasise the days are open to everyone of all ages and abilities and is free of charge.
