Village Games is a Sport England funded project running until 2013 looking at removing barriers within sport and physical activity for local and rural communities across Derbyshire.

Some of the ways Hayley Bramley, Village Games coordinator for NE Derbyshire, has been tackling this is by consulting with communities to find out what sessions and activities they would like to see on their doorsteps.

Village Games are setting up new projects designed for people of every age, background and gender.

Events will take place in village halls, community centres and schools to create a local buzz around projects which are viewed as much as social gatherings as sports sessions.

Hayley also uses local people as coaches and provides part-time employment for a number of coaches across the district.

With the London Olympic Games 2012 approaching, NE Derbyshire Village Games is launching new classes.
