For the first time in its 57-year history, a team from Shirland Golf Club lifted the Drabble Cup at this year’s competition.
The Shirland team of Aaron Hopkinson, Jonathan Turner, Derrick Hopkinson and Andrew Young won by a margin of four shots.
Aaron shot the best gross of 71 on a handicap of five giving him the best net score on the day of 66.
Shirland Golf Club chairman Mick Murtagh said: “The whole team was outstanding on the day, with Aaron’s performance being the icing on a wonderful cake.
“This is a marvellous piece of silverware to have in our trophy cabinet for the first but certainly not the last time.”
Played at a different course each year since its launch in 1956, the cup is usually presented to the winners by a member of the Drabble family, in whose honour it had been played since 1956.
This year, the competition was held at Ashbourne Golf Club and teams of four from 18 Derbyshire clubs took part.
The golf club is holding an open day on May 31 from 1pm until dark.
Activities for toddlers and free golf sessions, including lessons, are available.
Golfers who play elsewhere and would-be golfers can play three holes for free.
Visitors who want to play on the open day are asked to wear or bring flat shoes so they don’t damage the greens and fairways.
