Weather puts a dampener on Millers’ weekend fixtures

ON A terrible Saturday that saw the whole of the Evo-Stik League Premier Division fixture list suffer a complete washout after heavy rain, only three games survived in the lower divisions, two in the First Division North and one in the First Division South.

New Mills AFC’s proposed trip to Warrington fell victim to the weather after heavy overnight rainfall left the Abacus Solicitors Community Stadium pitch waterlogged despite the best efforts by the groundstaff.

The North West Counties League suffered even more with a complete washout of fixtures across their three divisions, which included New Mills Reserves’ game against Runcorn Linnets.

Next up for New Mills’ first team is the visit to Church Lane of Ossett Albion on Boxing Day, quickly followed by Wakefield on Saturday December 29. Both fixtures kick-off at 3pm.
