‘I’m ready for my bed’, says former Spireites kit man Tony Lormor.

And who can blame him after enduring five days of sub-zero temperatures guiding a pack of dogs on a sled?

Here he details his last day of the adventure which he did to raise much-needed funds for Lymphoma Association.

In the latest entry of his Arctic diary...

“Can’t believe we’re going home today. It’s been a quite amazing 5 days and I’ve had the pleasure of meeting some truly inspiring people. It feels like its gone in the blink of an eye but it seems about a week ago I was in the ice hotel.

“Got to bed about 1am and woke at 5.30am, for no real apparent reason! Breakfast is at 7.30 and I need to be packed and ready to leave for 9am.

“Our ride to the airport was on the back of a sled pulled by 12 dogs and I managed to share it with 2 close friends. We had a right laugh, although it was absolutely freezing, the time passed quickly and then we had time to get changed from out Arctic clothes to our normal clothes for the flights home.

“It was quite surreal when arriving at Kiruna airport with many inches of snow and not one single flight cancelled, they do an amazing job to make sure the runways are clear.

“The flight is off and it’s 1.5 hours to Stockholm so it’s a decent flight and manage to grab some well earned shut eye!!

“On arriving in Stockholm there’s about 45 mins to our flight leaves so we have a little stroll around the airport. Although, I do my best to nearly miss my flight, I have to run to make the flight on time after seeing the final call and it being called over the tannoy!

“So, as I write this, I’m still not home and en route back from Heathrow!! I’ve been travelling from 9am so you could say I’ll be ready for my bed!”
