Chesterfield utility man Drew Talbot expects ‘good players’ to arrive at the club this summer.
The Spireites have seen 11 players leave since the win over Exeter City on the last day of the League Two season, including Richard O’Donnell, Neal Trotman, Danny Whitaker, Richard Brindley and the retired Jack Lester.
Goalkeeper Aaron Chapman signed a one-year deal last week while Jacob Hazel and Talbot have agreed to extend their stay with the League Two club.
Eoin Doyle, who is understood to have signed a pre-contract with Chesterfield, will play his last game for Hibernian at Hampden on Sunday in the Scottish Cup Final against Celtic.
Talbot signed a two-year contract to remain with Paul Cook’s side until the summer of 2015 yesterday (Thursday).
He said: “You can see the gaffer’s passion and I’ve got full confidence that he’s going to bring in good players.”
The 26-year-old’s contract was due to expire at the end of this month, but he said there was only one place he wanted to play his football.
“There was interest from other places but my first choice was here because I’ve been here for four and a bit years now, and I feel like it is home,” he added.
