Chesterfield have made welcomed additions to their goalkeeping department.
Keeper Aaron Chapman, 22, has signed a one-year contract from non-league Belper Town while Eric Nixon is the latest addition to the new-look backroom team.
Chapman, at 6’8” tall, attracted attention from further up the footballing pyramid with some commanding displays for Goole, Parkgate and Belper. He has been brought in to provide competition for Tommy Lee.
Spireites manager Paul Cook said: “We’ve got really high hopes for him because he’s got so many good attributes for a young lad.”
Nixon, 50, played for numerous clubs after starting out at Manchester City - most notably Tranmere Rovers - in a career spanning 20 years.
He has been involved in coaching since hanging up his gloves, most recently at Macclesfield Town, and has joined on a full-time basis.
