South Normanton Athletic slip down East Midlands Counties Football League table

South Normanton slipped to seventh in the East Midlands Counties Football League Premier Division after they were beaten 3-1 at home to Bardon Hill.

The home side hit the front on two minutes when Shane Newton beat the off side trap and slotted the ball home from 10 yards.

But the lead lasted just five minutes when Simeon Oshoboke glancing header levelled the game.

A minute later Ant Fay and Shane Newton created an effort that just went wide.

From then on the game produced a good half with chances on both sides with lots of good football but at the break it ended level,

The second half started brightly with a Shane Newton effort which scraped the post.

A minute later Richard Hanslow went close for Bardon, before Sam Sims cleared off his own line as Hanslow thought he had scored on 55 minutes.

Bardon’s second came from a brilliant shot by Chris King whose shot hit the bar and bounced in from 20 yards out a minute later

It was game over on 65 minutesn when Hanslow cooly finished after a one on one with the keeper.

Normanton are away at Lenton Lane against Greenwood Meadows on Saturday.
