THE weather once again caused several games to be called off including Doe Lea Villa’s game in Division One against Hepthorne Lane which, had they won, would have moved them to the top of the division.

Britannia’s game with Bolsover Town Social Club did go ahead and a goal from Jason Foster not only won the game for Britannia but moved them above the inactive Villa into second place.

At the other end of the division Danny Bartram’s goal for Eckington Boys proved to be enough to beat Tibshelf Town and move them up to third from bottom with Town going in the opposite direction to second bottom.

Creswell Seniors ended 2012 with a win, Luke Russon and Scott Marsden’s goals cancelling out Adie Parsons effort for Killamarsh Juniors Athletic.

In Division Three, relegation battlers West Killamarsh took on promotion chasing Black Swan and contradicted the form book by beating them 3-1, goals were scored by A Unwin, N Hanwell and S McCall.

Leaders of Division Four Double Top took on bottom side Spital and, as expected, beat them 6-3. John Tulip hit three of the winning goals.

Second placed Woodside were also victorious, beating Lowgates Sports Club in a close game 3-2. Zack Law, Ben Sissons and Rob Durose scoring the winning goals. New Inn Newton and Red Lion Whittington Moor were level at 1-1 going into added on time at the end of the second half when Danny Sharpe popped up with the winning goal for Lion.

There are new leaders in Division Five after Midland Hotel beat Palterton Sporting Club 3-2. Their victory and the fact that previous leaders Butchers Arms Spartans fixture fell victim of the weather leaves them in pole position going into 2013. On target for Midland were A Bulliman, R Cawthorne and R Lacy-Hatton. Hosetech Mill just edged out Chesterfield Arms 2-1 and Luke Nunn hit a hat trick in Goldminers 5-1 win at Harleys Scarlets. Things are getting tight at the top of Division Six after leaders Birdholme 1ST surprisingly lost 2-0 at mid-table Clowne Wanderers Reserves, Robson and Rogers the scorers. Bolsover and Dunston Rovers are now just two points behind after Bolsover beat Dronfield Miners 3-2, Rushby (2), Henry (1) and Dunston won 4-3 at Langer Lane, Brown, Growcutt, Cox and Varley with the winning goals.

The big story in the division, however, is New Whitt B’s 14-0 win over Bull and Badger in which Dan Locke hit an amazing seven goals. Boythorpe cruised past Brimington Club, Fox scoring twice in a 6-1 victory. Top entertained bottom in Division Seven as Holmebrook Tavern 1STs took on Birdholme 2NDs. Just the 25 points separated the sides before kick-off but at the full time whistle that was reduced by three as Birdholme produced their best display of the season to Tavern 3-2 with D Chappell scoring twice, P Lewis once.

North Wingfield MW won 3-0 at struggling Masons Arms, S Dickens scoring twice in the win. VK Royal Oak 1STS were also winners, they beat Barlow Kingston Rovers 3-1 with the goals coming from Mark Revill, Kirk Smith and Russ Lowe.

VK Royal Oaks 2NDS dominance of Division Eight continues as the rounded off the year with a regulation 6-0 win over Miners and Diners, their 12th victory of the season, David Brent and Kyle Hebdige both scoring twice. Markham Arms won 3-2 at Britannia Tupton, Matt Gregory scoring twice, Ash Taylor once. Grouse and Grassmoor Sports Reserves drew 3-3 whilst two Joe Baker goals, his first ever, helped his Chesterfield Town Reserves side to a 3-2 win over Brampton Rovers Reserves, Dalton Bramley netting the winner in the final minute.
