GLOSSOP North End have parted company with First Team Manager Paul Colgan, the club has announced.

A statement released by the Surrey Street club last night (Tuesday) said Colgan had left his post with immediate effect, along with Youth Development Officer Lol McMahon.

Appointed in May 2011, ex-Rossendale United boss Colgan helped guide Glossop to a sixth-place finish in the North West Counties League Premier Division last season.

Currently, the Hillmen sit in tenth place in the table, with nine wins from 21 matches, and have suffered early exits from both the FA Vase and League Cup, coupled with last night’s 4-1 home defeat by Mickleover Royals which saw them crash out of the Derbyshire Senior Cup.

The club said the decision had been taken following a review of the future direction of the club.

“Results this season have not been as good as expected although injuries have had a significant effect,” the statement read.

“Lol joined us for the beginning of this season and it was anticipated that he would bring his long experience of non-league football locally to bear in helping to develop our younger players through the youth and reserves team up to the first team. This objective has been frustrated by Lol’s increasing work commitments.

“The board would like to thank both of these individuals for their commitment to the club during their time with us and we wish them well in their future careers in football.”
