Buxton’s game against FC United of Manchester on Saturday (December 28) will now have an earlier kick-off of 1pm.

The kick-off has been brought forward two hours so that the game can go ahead without the need for floodlights, following the abandonment of the Boxing Day clash against Matlock Town.

Both Buxton and Matlock were left frustrated as the game was called off at half-time, due to a floodlight failure at the Silverlands.

The fixture lasted 45 minutes before referee Jane Sims had no option but to call a halt to proceedings due to the darkening skies.

Earlier in the afternoon there had been a fault with three of the floodlights failing, before a loud bang was heard.

That led to the main stand being evacuated for the second home game in succession.

Despite attempts to rectify the problem, the floodlights remained out and shortly after 4pm Sims announced the inevitable decision to abandon the clash.

Derek Niven had scrambled the ball home early on to give Martin McIntosh’s side the lead.

Matlock then equalised just before half-time when Shaun Tuton drew scores level at 1-1 on 35 minutes before the interval brought with it a premature end to the contest.

Buxton will certainly be onto the task of getting the situation resolved in time for the next home match, when Rushall are the visitors on Saturday.
