Dronfield Town suffered a 2-0 reversal at the hands of a lively AFC Mansfield at the weekend.

Town were up against it for long periods of the game and defended bravely and solidly, but came away pointless.

After a goal-less first half, Mansfield notched two quick fire goals.

Firstly a rare Town keeper error gave the opposition the chance to take the lead which they duly did, and then marking from a corner let them in for a second.

Town Reserves entertained Newark Town hoping to improve on two consecutive 3-3 draws and succeeded with a fine 3-2 victory.

Town started brightly with Wayne Garrity opening the scoring, before Ash Ryecroft’s 30 yard free kick found the top corner for a great goal.

Newark pulled one back before Matt Hague opened his account for town to send them in 3-1 at the break.

Town really should have put the game to bed but aloud Newark back into the game through a defensive lapse. Town then saw the game out to collect all three points. Will Earl came off the bench for the last ten minutes for his first appearance since his injury last October.
